Second Life Verra-Certified Credits launches on PCX Markets
PCX Markets will be releasing its first Verra-certified plastic credits through a partnership that was recently inked with global social enterprise Second Life.
Committed to helping organizations kickstart circular plastic supply chains, Second Life collects plastic waste in biodiversity hotspots and vulnerable areas to support environmental regeneration and community development. Its plastic waste recovery and recycling program is the first to be certified by Verra, which creates and manages environmental standards and frameworks that are recognized internationally. PCX will be making available these Verra-certified plastic credits through the PCX Markets platform.
“Today marks a very exciting and important step in the continued pursuit of our mission at PCX Markets to eliminate plastic waste in the environment,” says Sebastian DiGrande, CEO of PCX. “As the first marketplace to offer access to plastic waste recovery and recycling programs certified through multiple recognized standards, we are enabling our partners to accelerate their impact globally. We are proud to partner with Second Life on this journey.”
Second Life was founded in 2020 in partnership with French cosmetics brand Caudalie to take responsibility for 600 tons of plastic generated from the latter’s makeup products. Since then, it has grown into a full-fledged offsetting program that has recovered and recycled more than 2,389,000 kilograms of ocean-bound plastic through its various projects throughout Thailand and Bali.
Given Second Life’s network outside the Philippines, PCX Markets looks forward to working with the organization to develop scalable impact. This is also PCX Markets’ first partnership with an organization that does not necessarily comply with the Plastic Pollution Reduction Standard, solidifying its commitment to inclusivity and collaboration.
