HOPE’s ‘Aling Tindera’ Program Launches Five New Stations in Cavite Province
In an effort to bring the Aling Tindera program to more Filipinos outside Metro Manila, PCX recently inked a contract to set up five new collection points in various barangays across General Trias City in Cavite. These waste-to-cash stations will provide more opportunities for residents to engage in plastic waste management within their own vicinity.
PCX partnered with the respective local government officials of the barangays, whose areas are all currently practicing efficient plastic waste management and cleanliness initiatives. So much so that waste, in general, is rarely found on their streets.
“We are thrilled that all these barangays have agreed to work with us. These collection points will augment their existing waste strategies to further maintain their clean surroundings,” says Ilusion Farias, Managing Director of Friends of Hope Inc.
This is the first time Aling Tindera is launching in the province of Cavite, particularly in General Trias, which is home to over 450,000 Filipinos. The stations will be located in Brgy. Manggahan, Brgy. Javalera, Brgy. Bacao II, Brgy. San Francisco, and Brgy. Pasong Kawayan II.
HOPE’s Aling Tindera is the proprietary waste-to-cash program of PCX that aims to encourage individuals to participate in the fight against plastic pollution. Inspired by the presence of multiple sari-sari stores or small community stores, all stations are managed and maintained by women entrepreneurs, enabling them to be champions of sustainability in their areas.
